communication, design, coaching, community services, organizational
administration, and research. She holds a BA in English and Master of Religion,
both from Warner Pacific College, as well as certificates in coaching from
Western Seminary. She has studied a wide variety of creative communication
techniques, and has experience working with women, children, and small groups
on creative endeavors. Her undergrad thesis was on the interconnectivity of
authenticity with tradition and choice, and her master’s thesis, Creative
Healing for Women in Crisis and the Role of the Church, was the impetus behind
Kura Kimanna’s formation.
Kura Kimanna comes from the Japanese
Kura, which symbolizes both their tea houses and the beautiful cherry blossoms
that gather on their trees each Spring, and Kimanna, a Shoshone word for
butterfly. Roughly translated, its essence suggests transformation, rebirth,
and newness. Kura Kimanna’s tagline is “The treasure house of
transformation.” It is run with Christ-centered ideals and valuations,
while welcoming anyone who is in need of a creative transfusion taught,
coached, and consulted over with a spirit of kindness.
While there are a lot of creative
schools and courses, as well as a lot of coaches, including those who seek to
help garner creativity, Kura Kimanna is the juxtaposition of creativist
mentalities, relational presencing, Christian ideology, authentic growth-seeking
patterns, and the allowance of trial and error. It will not only cover the
assistance of others’ creative endeavors, but that of its founder, which is
meant to inspire others toward their own growth. And as with any coaching
experience, it is collaborative in nature. Kura Kimanna’s goal is to be an
integrative, interactive, relationally-driven creative experience.
